Ans.1 : Coorg, the smallest district of Karnataka is located midway between Mysore and Mangalore.

Q2. What is the story about the Kodavu people’s descent?

Ans.2 : It is believed that Kodavu people are either of Greek or Arabic descent. It is said that a part of Alexander’s army had moved south along the coastal areas and settled there after realising that their return wasn’t possible. They married among the locals and settled for good. This is evident from their costumes, martial traditions, marriage and ritual rites which are different from the Hindu mainstream.

Ans. 3 : (i) The people of Coorg- The people of Coorg are fiercely independent and have a long-standing tradition of hospitality. The natives are of Greek or Arabic descent. Every household has numerous tales of valour to share. Kodavus, the natives of Coorg, are the only people who have the privilege of carrying firearms without a licence. The author has proudly presented the natives of Coorg as a proud race of martial men and beautiful women.

(ii) The main crop of Coorg- Coffee is the main crop of Coorg. Numerous coffee estates can be spotted tucked under tree canopies in prime locations.

(iii) The sports it offers to tourists- River rafting, canoeing, rappelling, rock climbing, mountain climbing and trekking are some of the sports that Coorg offers to adventure-loving tourists.
